>>67221901Niji's whole brand was based on controversy, drama and trolling in the early days.
Sasaki graduated and then un-graduated over Nintendo perms and got a ton of shit over it, but she put out a literal diss track cover to her haters and got praised for it (
https://youtu.be/HZleluBJrjA).
Mito used to be a literal /here/ chuuba for 5chan - imagine if someone like Pippa or Beatani went mainstream with 20k+ viewers - that was Mito in Japan (and now you can start understanding why nijisanji fans are the way they are).
In fact, this type of trolling, banter and jokey atmosphere was the entire brand of Nijisanji back in 2018 and 2019. And although adults didn't like it that much due to the drama potential (and not really conforming to Japanese culture), it got SUPER popular among the few Japanese youths that were around precisely because of those two points.
But somewhere along the line, things changed.
Ichikara converted into Anycolor.
The guy responsible for early Nijisanji either quit or was forced out of the company (depending on who you beleb).
Nijisanji started delving into idol territory with their collab groups.
Newer livers started getting the usual bantz thrown at them, but instead of responding with "fuck off" content, they started apologizing instead.
e.g. Lauren profusely apologizing for using the word "Fabyutteru" (because it has some anti-Korean 5ch roots) meanwhile Mito used it all the time in her 2019 streams (not anymore though).
Imagine what anons here would do if a successful /here/chuuba company for 2 years suddenly started pivoting to mainstream and apologizing for using /here/ lingo.
Desperate fans escalated the bantz into harassment territory, and yet the response remained either just ignoring it or apologizing for it.
Somewhere along the way, the history, legacy and the reasoning for bantz (to get counter-bantz content from the livers and a jokey atmosphere) was lost.
Niji fanbase started harassing other chuubas and companies, and that was when things stopped being funny.
Now, the livers couldn't afford to be seen pandering to "that" part of the audience anymore. The audience that they themselves cultivated back in 2018-19 was thrown out.
Livers started getting suspended for bantz, because they couldn't afford to be seen as pandering to a "hater" audience (which is what their early audience has turned into).
Gundou gets fired over baseball tweets to protect their baseball sponsorships.
Entire company pivots into being "normalfag friendly".
And now their most prolific livers are quitting one by one.
