because I don't fully understand itIt ramps up scale according to the current step/iteration using a number of curves you can select. You could also use it to ramp scale DOWN, not sure why you'd want to. Yes, it can allow for more details in certain areas that'd otherwise get deep fried by running at high scale the entire time.
