I think discovering livers that produce content that fits the reader's interests is an essential part of this prospective new project, and thus it needs something that can let you browse by category/tags to discover livers that may be of interest. Carrd doesn't have any of that, since it's built to be the business card version of a website. Stuff like Wordpress or (unironically) Tumblr might work, but they're clunky options.
