Upper class in the Philippines translates to middle/upper middle in NA
Filipino med schools are mostly easier to get into compared to NA med schools, I know many Filipino Americans who went back to PH for medschool and came back to the states for residency
It's getting into a NA residency program as an international medical grad (IMG) is much harder these days
30ish years ago, it was more common (still hard) to get into a US residency for IMGs
Not to downplay the work it takes, medschool is hard everywhere
