The entire point of him being unable to jump out of Buddha's hand is because through enlightenment the Buddha is one with the universe as a whole so attempting to escape the Buddha's palm would be akin to escaping the universe. Hence how at once the Buddha's hand is less than a foot across, greater than 108,000 li and a mountain of the five elements

Buddha is in essence formless, but Wukong did not understand that and thus fell into a trap of his own foolishness
Whether you are at the top of the mountain or the bottom of the sea, you are in touch with enlightenment. Ultimately whether Wukong had jumped 1,000 or 1,000,000 miles, the results would be the same. No matter how high he soared, he would still be in the Buddha's palm because he is still trapped in the here and now.
Keep in mind this isn't a 100% accurate or faithful portrayal of buddhist thought as it was written by a Taoist. This entire sequence is kinda taking the piss out of buddhism
