past gfs, in their late 20's, and each one was 1 or 2 cup sizes larger. One woman would complain literally every day about how much her bras pinched, hurt her shoulders, etc. and it still took MONTHS to convince her to Do This One Weird Trick (Doctors Hate Him!) to fix her shoulder pain.
Lots of women just settle on "their size" in high school or college and never think to change. At most they begin to buy only one size larger, and only if they are willing to admit to themselves that they gained weight (which risks opening its own box of mental BS). That's before considering that bras between manufacturers can be very inconsistent. So if they buy something cute from a brand they don't normally wear, even getting "their size" might end up with something that fits poorly.
