Before Gura, there was NijiEN.

Hololive was lucky to have Gura who had more subs than any in Hololive at the time, to debut their EN branch. Carrying the rest on her shoulders.

Gura is still the queen without streaming.
Gura and Hololive were fated to happen. neither would be as successful without each other.

Gura has said since the beginning that she joined Hololive to be on stage like Hatsune Miku. Made her dreams come true and what she still focuses on now. What Hololive was looking for.

There were other corps with English debuts before Hololive. No one expected Myth to be near as successful, which boosted all of Hololive.

While Fubuki and Aqua were gaining ground just before the Myth debut. The release of Myth became total domination for all Hololive members. Crazy how fast it happened.

Gura's old channel had 800k subscribers in March, while Fubuki and Korone had around 500k/300k. Before she joined Hololive. Gura felt bad reaching 1 million before them after starting over.
Also let's not forget they weren't the first EN. Nijisanji and others tried to accelerate after Gura's success, though they struck gold with Luxiem. Salome grew faster than Gura. But longevity is the true metric of success.
