I see this phrased as "she took a week off without explanation," but anons seem to be offering a dozen different explanations that are all valid. Personally, it seems like she's holding back an explanation because she doesn't think it's good enough and doesn't want to humiliate herself (i.e., "I'm just busy and stressed out") and I don't think giving her a hard time about it and increasing the stakes/threatening to leave is going to help her "mature and grow."
It would be ideal if she shared more, but IMO this is just going to make her fear asking for time off even more.
