Apparently, Beryl got a Japanese visa through her no name corpo in 2022 but back then, they only issued 6 month duration visas because they were just opening up from covid lockdown (all restrictions were lifted April 2023). Her company shut down before or shortly after the renewal went through, giving her a very limited period of time during which she could find another company willing to host her visa, of which there are very few willing to hire a foreigner because racism and it cost money. Hololive did not pick her for advent and if she didn't find the first available opportunity, she would have been kicked out of Japan. She didn't have the luxury of waiting for Cover to pick another gen and Phase's CEO gave her an easy choice by offering to host her visa. This is the real reason why she's part of Phase JP and neither Phase EN nor Holo EN.
