>>1411506Not sure about that. There is a recent tendency to make schizophrenia a much more monolithic diagnosis. The subtypes have been abolished for example. Also, a lot of what I've seen in textbooks seems like overbearing nitpicking rather than meaningfully different manifestations, especially since the treatment is pretty much the same.
My impression is that first-worlders made up a lot of "alternate diagnoses" because nobody wants to be called a schizo.
Ironically, mental disorder acceptance has only gone backwards in recent years.
