Chikorita is a based, non-contrarian, genuinely nice choice of Gen2 starters. There's no BAD choice in Gen2 and that's the real discussion to be had. Every option is valid. Bayleef is one of the only 1st stage evos that looks dope af. Even Meganium is cool, it's just bad.
Nothing wrong with either Totodile or Cyndaquil either. Knocked it out of the park with those three, even more than gen1.
