Now here's a fun thing, venture capital is actually just a ultra-high-stakes ponzi scheme. VC managers find a company, invest in it, then start boasting to fellow VC managers about how he found this amazing company that has grown 10x in the past year, other managers go "Wow! I have to get in on that!" so they also invest in the company (now worth 10x as much as it used to be, effectively paying off the previous investment), looking for a similar return, so they too start shilling this company to fellow VC managers, rinse and repeat.
And this is how large silicon valley companies don't worry about turning profit, only growth. Everyone is looking for the next Google/Microsoft/Amazon.
