Otsonny!! Episode 7 of okami was another long one, wew. I'm actually impressed by his streaming stamina these past few days, i feel spoiled enough that it makes me a little worried for next week KEK... I feel like these fun long streams are always followed by some shit happening like him getting sick. My superstitions aside, getting to botw is definitely a big motivator for finishing okami for him so it makes sense he's able to push through and make more progress. I enjoyed today's stream though, another 8 hours that really just flew by. Things are getting pretty wacky in the story, that's for sure... time travel, shape shifters and imoutos, oh my. Picking up where we left off, we continue deeper into oni island as we chase rao who was previously revealed to be something much more sinister. There was also this prayer slip guy that kind of "guides" you through the dungeon, but he died at the end of it... were we supposed to feel bad?? Not a very difficult dungeon, though the fight against Ninetails herself was pretty neat and a bit of a challenge since she has her own celestial brush. Of course she wasn't the last of the evils plaguing Nippon though... after this we go north to the very snowy region of kamui. I kind of liked this arc of the story, I felt it fit really nicely into one stream and we got some good VA out of it as well (even if he's still killing his throat). I mean, sonny gave the first person we really meet in that area an EN hikaru midorikawa voice. Oki is cool but kinda fucking stupid, dude took the sacred sword without knowing how to use it. We find out that his village of shapeshifting wolf people is under a curse causing a terrible blizzard, and on top of that, the little girl who helps in the annual ritual that makes the village a slightly less shit place to live in has gone missing. ...You know, I mostly recount the plot for myself at this point, this shit gets confusing. And so, we spend the next six or seven hours helping out so we can get a bit closer to fighting yami, the real root of evil. What does that entail? Rolling snowballs and fighting for his goddamn life trying to do memory puzzles, of course. Also a lot of running. I kind of like how irritated he gets when he's in a sequence where he can't fast travel. I really love snowy areas in video games though, so I don't mind taking the scenic route. While searching for that little girl, Lika, we find out she's gone deep into this cursed forest and... back in time? First we visit Issun's home village though, find out he draws some very interesting art, and meet an old friend. Ponc'tan is a pleasant little place, i wonder why he turned out the way he did KEK. Then it's to the past we go... I won't bother going into too much detail but it's a VERY familiar sequence, I'll say that much. Susano and kushi's families certainly have history there. Everyone in this old kamiki village thinks we're Shiranui, ammy's older, powerful form. Basically, it's our duty to change history... which of course involves defeating orochi again! It's a tedious as fuck fight, but sonny definitely has the hang of it now. There we find lika, beat the shit out of the owl demons causing trouble for kamui, team up with oki, shiranui actually does make an appearance and basically sacrifices herself, my brain hurts. Idk man just watch the stream. I do wonder if all this time fuckery will have ramifications, sonny himself said oki was nowhere in the legends before. With things restored mostly to normal in kamui, oki returns the sacred sword to its alter where the prophecy of the sword comes true, and the ark of Yamato, a fucking spaceship and our final destination, rises up and opens for us. I guess today was a pretty straightforward stream, just chugging along, but I did enjoy his suffering, and I'm proud of him for finally getting all 13 brush techniques. Just one more stream left most likely... although, much like OoT, i wouldn't be surprised if he dedicated an "extra" stream to side content when he's finished with it. I'm gonna miss okami to be honest, I've become really fond of the world and it's characters, even Waka and issun. I actually think Frenchman Waka has become one of my favorite voices now... but it's not over just yet. I'll save my goodbyes for next week! Thank you for a comfy stream sonny, i look forward to the final showdown against Yami, and im excited for whatever else you have planned in the coming week too. Please sleep well! o7
