That said, I would suggest that the eventual spread and embrace of Christianity throughout the Roman empire (particularly the Eastern empire) by the masses had more to do with Christians teaching people how to read so they could study the scriptures, meaning the pool of literate citizens who had the skills necessary to run businesses and the imperial bureaucracy largely consisted of Christians, which lead to Christians filtering into positions of wealth, power and influence
Of course, having a large pool of martyrs that you can point to and canonize for their zeal helps to instill confidence in the lay once the new ideology HAS become dominant and normalized even among the normalfags (hell, I'm a Christian and it definitely helped to convince me, lol). Even so, other cultural and genetic factors make me highly doubt that these guys' particular dissident ideology will end up being similarly successful
