At first I wanted to expand on the Corpse of Monoe as a type of Chuubanite anomaly.
But I needed another element of mystery.
Then I noticed that /clg/ is right next door and how hard they collapsed on /vt/ in real time.
Which is why 'Misaki' is featured in the story.

Oh on another note, if any of you want me to fix anything in the story (like calling Syndeonia a vassal of the Shogunate, or a timeframe) just tell me. I will not get mad at you. I am still confused as to how some anon thought the story took place during the war.
