I watch vtubers to see cute girls playing video games and singing songs on stage. I want those cute girls to interact and laugh with each other. I want to see their growth and ascension.
The dynamic between men and women is just different than the dynamic between two, or more, women. That is quadrupled when they work in the same company as "coworkers." The fact that some of the boys, not all, are sexpests and seem to constantly try to insert themselves into the same space as the Holos ends up leaving me with a bad taste in my mouth about them.
I watch K-On to watch cute girls being friends and singing songs. If a male mc were randomly thrust into it halfway through the show, it would make me completely lose interest.
Now, I personally see no issue at all with an established celebrity collabing with one of the girls. Very few people do. Hell, Gura's most ardent unicorns were all cool with the matpat thing, and KFP was cool with the kiara/frodo thing.
