I've long held the belief that the grand majority of people that watch streamers and Vtubers are just incredibly lonely and push that feeling away by indulging in parasocial relationships (not GFE, they aren't the same thing). It's tough to find friends as an adult, though so I can understand the reliance on the medium to feel like you aren't the only soul on Earth.
