If I may share with the rest of the class, I found that asking yourself "What if?" questions about your characters that force them to solve a problem is not only fun, but gives you insight into what their personalities are and could be.
>What if Botan woke up in a strange room without any memory of the past 24 hours?>What if Botan got hit by a car that broke her spine, rendering her unable to move from the waist down? >What if Botan got arrested for a crime she didn't commit? >What if Botan got terminal cancer? They can either be questions that have something to do with their role in the plot, or just random questions. As long as they force the character to solve a problem somehow (or allow them to choose not to solve it, which would still give insight into how they are as characters).
