Should i make it smaller?Based on the european-inspired Age of Sail techniques adopted by some Holo and Niji countries, those would be pretty heavy given their number of cannons. The RAS Marine would probably be at or under 1800 tons of displacement, and the smaller ships would be lighter than that. And yes, ship armor is a thing, it started about where our tech level is! Bronze cladding was a thing for a while, and cladding with steel started being a thing too. But yeah, in general ships that are heavier than they need to be are slower and handle worse, so it's not preferable.
