>>80749748Nah man that's perfectly understandable.
It also doesn't help that nowadays ANY sort of in-group is much harder to get into than they used to be. Those being Online ones, at least.
IRL shit has been toxic
or at least always semi-toxic towards outsiders since the dawn of time.
Internet-based groups/fandoms/communities/whatevers end up with a high concentration of members who spend a lot of their time online, and with that comes the behavior we all know and love (hate) that is of a chronically online user.
That's how we get 'normal' community members, vtweeters, site administrators, chatroom
COUGH Dicksword COUGH moderators, and even content creators themselves at the head of their communities ALL going on delusional power trips and immediately shit flinging if they get called out on it like a chimpanzee.
And as much as I believe in being decisive with retaliation and not hesitating when provoked enoughーthat shit applies to when I get physically attacked IRL.
And I still feel bad about it afterwards if it does happen
mostly because it's the same damn two stray dogs harassing me and mine on our morning walk and I feel bad having to yell at them and kick and chase them off because my boi will fucking massacre them if I let him and I ABSOLUTELY do NOT want that but people online have no qualms about going out of their way to completely demolish someone's online life, offline life, and whatever reputation they had, just so they could feel like they 'won' probably an argument over something super petty.
At any rate, best I can do is to recognize when someone is testing the waters, and then not attack them for it. People on both sides nowadays are burned as hell, with somewhat good reason behind that aggressive caution too.
For vtubers especially, it's less noticeable in large CCV chats due to sheer volume, but in smaller streams like in FlaVR or some of Phase's members you can tell who is new-ish
besides them being a gray name, though this isn't an all-encompassing indicator tbdesu by their frequency of chatting, and how they speak when doing so.
I know that was one thing I struggled with, to try and figure out the pacing so I didn't come off as a spammer or as some kid who doesn't understand streaming culture.
1 message per chat-window height usually works, though if it is really slow then 1 every 2 minutes works as well, so there's that as a tip I guess.
Basicly, don't get discouraged. At the absolute VERY worst, you make an alt to test the waters with, and then either discard it for your main, or use that alt as the viewing account for that streamer. You'll figure it out, Anon. Ganbatte.
