you see a channel's available emote slots are dependent on their membership numbers. Because of all the gifted memberships the girls have been getting, their member numbers have allowed them a lot more emote slots than they had ready at debut.
these slots will expire if their member numbers dip back to a lower threshold when the gifted memberships run out, unless they are in use.
in order to keep as many emote slots as possible, the girls have uploaded placeholder emotes using jpegs of emoji hearts reflecting their primary color.
when they eventually commission more proper emotes, they'll be able to replace these jpegs so it'll look less janky
