'With the disappearance of the leader of the Kenzoku, due to reasons currently unclear, the money laundering scheme seems to have stopped. Further controls on the remaining Kenzoku are highly recommended.'
Looking up from my typewriter, I sighed. With this report done, I have to re-read to make sure I didn't write anything stupid. Shadows start gathering in front of my desk, slowly merging into a familiar silhouette. He likes making this kind of entrance.
"Morning investigator, how about we order something from this new place? I heard it's pretty good."
"Fast food? I'm not in the mood for it. How about we cook something?"
"The fridge is empty."
"Fine then, fast food it is."
"Nice, see you later then."
And just like he entered, he disappears again. I lean back in my chair, memories flashing again in my mind: the disappearance, the start, and the end of my journey — all of that just for this everyday life that wouldn't exist without him.
Now time to go back to work. I still need to proofread this report.
