>>64655808L2d rigging is slightly different from 3d rigging. In 3d, you can automatically assign some weights to objects based on their position and distance to bones, then clean up manually. Because l2d doesn't have an actual 3d base you can't just generate that accurately, instead the deformations have to be done by hand to give a convincing illusion of 3d movement, and the sprite shapes and positions for basic things like hair, eyes etc could be wildly different model to model.
