It's better than outright removing monetization or taking down entire VODs like Youtube does. I've still never heard of anyone getting a ban for playing a DMCA song. Even right now out of curiosity I looked at my sidebar and spotted someone who is currently streaming to 42 viewers. Looked at their most recent VOD and even they have a segment muted.
