Because merch helps so much more than SC. Look when a girl does a sponsored stream, she's shilling for a company or something. That company does not give a FUCK how many SCs she gets because they are all on her channel, and the cut of SCs goes to Youtube, Cover, and then the girl. Not the company sponsoring it.
So what do they do?
Well if they are gacha company they release a limited time character that features the girl or something.
If they are a restaurant, they might offer a drink or dish based on the Holo, or offer merch in stores for buying a certain amount.
If they are a food goods company, they will have their packaging featuring the Holo.
If they are a chain of stores like Lawson or something, they will again have merch featuring both the company and the Holo.
And the only way Cover can present this to potential sponsors and the only metric that these sponsors have to go off of is "Look how many people will buy something with this Holo's face on it." Not SCs, that's just "look how much money people will give to this girl" and the sponsor obviously does not get a cut of SCs, even on a shilling stream.
Companies want engagement, they want purchases, and merch sold is by far the best metric of this, and that's why its so important to the Holos, not just cause they get the biggest cut but because it shows they can sell stuff for other companies, who will then pay them to shill things. Suisei doesn't rank the highest in SCs but anything with her face slapped on it will move a SHIT TON of product and that is exactly what people interested in paying her to shill their shit want.
