The cope here is that there is continuity between them, when really there isn't, or rather it's meaningless semantics. If you were preserved and turned off for a while, you'd be more you than if you became an exact clone with no apparent loss of consciousness, since the latter would quickly become someone else. Whose perspective is this discontinuity from anyway, if you lack consciousness in the meantime?
