>>37555602> Sometimes to the point of cutting ties with people. I tell myself that they’re better off without me being in their lives and that I just hold everyone back.Ok listen up: absolutely do not do this. If anything, it is extremely inconvenient to others. When people who are in contact in you want to reach you while you are cocooning typically they have to go out of their way to find out why are you not responding, which usually involves them wasting a lot of hours of their day trying to find out if you haven't been kidnapped or something.
Cut it. For real, cut it. Find literally any other solution to this.
>I want to stop but I don’t know any other way of handling stress. If you googled how to handle stress you would find sixteen methods and none of them would involve running away. Do it.
I will tell you one for free: I have an street cat that had a harsh life and her first reaction to anything that happens is to hide under the washing machine, even if its not scary. That's you. Your first reaction to anything is to go hiding, because the source of your stress comes from fear.
"Flight" is a natural response to fear. There is another one however: "Fight"
You have to train your brain to switch from flighting to fighting, you can do this by focusing really hard on interpreting the experience as a winnable combat instead of an undefeatable threat.
Don't like this? There are other hundreds of ways with dealing with stress. Look on them and find one you like.
On a side note in particular your beliefs about stress shapes your how body reacts to it. Take 10 minutes to watch this TED talk, it will literally save your life.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RcGyVTAoXEUBasically in the vod it says that people who believe stress is harmful to them are the ones that get fucked up. In cultures where they dont believe stress is bad do better under stress in health terms than people with little stress.
Give these things some thought. But seriously, whatever you do, cut it. It is really annoying.
