>>79136025I don't really know how to word this properly so this might sound a bit schizo but bros... do >we have too much power? And.. is that a good thing?
A lot of anons are just gonna reply to this instinctively after reading one or two lines, but I urge you guys to finish the whole thing before typing.
Just look at this community from the outside. It seems so happy and fun, everyone's enjoying themselves, newfags are welcomed with open arms, shitting on any of the girls is forbidden, and people just do light bantz, take cues from the girls about line within which you can joke around, and generally enjoy themselves.
But going deeper there's also a bit of a knowledge gap that not a single newfag can properly understand without coming into /vt/ not just casually, but lurking for some time and learning how to dive the fucking archives (most people are gonna be from mobile so they won't even be able to use 4chanX).
Like, some new guy accidentally discovers the homos through begging, old collabs or clips, and they share that with the general audience and are met with.. mild disinterest, indifference, awkward silences and often times not even recognition.
If you never lurk /vt/ for at least some time, it would 100% feel weird seeing this reaction. "Isn't Hololive supposed to be a fun place? Aren't these guys part of the company too?" etc. etc.
Naturally they would look for explanations, and the first thing they see is
> oh the Hololive fanbase is actually filled with unicorns and incels, they hate if their waifus interacting with males due to idol culture, it's so sad> because of that fear of the fanbase, most of the girls don't interact with the holostars. it's unfortunate.> you join us though! holostars are the ACTUAL fun part of this hobby!I mean.. at first sight it's a simple enough explanation. And in the Western mind there's already this mind virus of "idol culture" spread due to old articles about stabbings and shaving head due to boyfriend and what not which links to this explanation.
It would naturally push newfags towards the beggar side without even understanding any of the context behind why the homos are hated.
And of course, containment breakers always push the "unicorn opinions" and homo hate to the public on twitter, which inevitably will end up in their feed. They come /here/ and lurk for 5 minutes, and all they see is homo hate, homo collaber hate, homo association hate. Naturally they'd would be mad, most of them wouldn't stay past those 5 minutes either.
The "unicorn" or "idol culture" explanation would make perfect sense to them at that point, especially with the constant loveposting and lewdposting we get here for holos.
Of course, they don't even understand that there's even a knowledge gap.
Stuff like Luxiem's rise and fall, Tempus' initial reception and then turn, the omega era, homobegging, the suspension, the yabbadabbadoo posting, the cuckposting, okbh, reddit in general etc. are not recorded anywhere that's easily accessible, it's a "collective memory" of oral tradition that we, as a people, pass on from generation to generation.
The greater fanbase knows about all this, and shares our opinions of course, but most people can't post this type of stuff in public without making themselves look like complete retards, so they never post such opinions outside of /here/. Meaning this explanation is completely... invisible.
And it's not just that, we have people from the highest echelons of power within Hololive repeating memes from >here. Majority of the girls from both EN and JP side pretend that the homos don't exist. Some even go as far as completely ignoring them when they appear on screen. This is AWESOME of course for US, because we know the CONTEXT behind the whole invisible war, but how do you even explain this to a complete newfag? And if you have a homo as your oshi then yeah, normally it WOULD kinda feel bad if the girls were ignoring them. Imagine if Kiara was your oshi and Pekora just completely ignored her during those early days, not even making any mention of her. It'd feel kinda weird wouldn't it? There'd be so many "THEY HATE EACH OTHER" posts all over the place.
I'm just here thinking.. is this ok? Like, to need to come to fucking 4chan of all places to understand a major part of the culture of a hobby.. is it fine to have it this way?
Or is this just how 4chan has always been before the /pol/ rot set in, and we're just the only place that's still preserving that culture?
At the end of the day my question is.. shouldn't there be some record of all of these events somewhere out there in public?
Some stele that can be referenced for new kids to learn our civilizational history and glory?
Something that newfags can easily read through without having to lurk for 5000 years and understand what post here is genuine or not?
It would at least harm the ability of beggars to exploit this lack of knowledge to fill their ranks imho.
What do you guys think?
