With niji they're actually trying to compete as entertainment and eceleb friends, so the there's neither the expectation that they'll be idols nor the Unicron Buff. Their numbers are lower as a result. Regardless, some still lean into their interests and niches (as opposed to doing the standard vtuber starter pack) and form a more wholesome fanbase around their genuine hobbies and personalities. If you're entertaining enough people will still watch even if you play something other than apex, Mario kart, fall guys, and flavors of the month.
