>>84385244It's not just that cats display it differently but they interpret you differently as well. If you want a cat to accept you then you should ignore it. This shows that you don't view it as a threat, so it doesn't view you as one. When they look away from you or expose weakness(like their belly) that's them showing they trust you. And then when you rub that belly you're betraying their trust.
If you're constantly staring at it and trying to get in its personal space then it'll be slower to accept you.
You have to keep in mind that dogs and humans co-evolved to better understand each other as partners in a way that no other animal has with humans. Cats were mostly just left to do their own thing in a barn.
