The “Gods” are a lot more powerful than they’re allowed to be, but like Palutena, they’re restricted from fully using that power by various “contractual” rules, putting them closer to the level of demigods in practicality. They’re meant to guard, not abuse.
The “demigods” (named so because of power level/lore) are those who were either imbued with some kind of superhuman power by an entity of the godly status (e.g. Kiara’s immortality) or acquired it (e.g. Ame’s fob watch), making them distinctly more powerful than regular mortals. They map well onto Pit, who is more than just a mortal on his own, but becomes a fierce warrior when enhanced by godly power.
The “god slayers” are named such because, for one reason or another; they have a level of power that makes them respected/feared enough by the god class that they imprisoned them instead of challenging them to open battle (since they feared they might lose). The “slayer” part comes from the fact that, after thousands or so of years of imprisonment, they surely have a bone to pick with the god class, at least in lore (none of this translates great to what’s shown in day-to-day holo, as usual). This maps well onto Magnus, who’s mortal, but such a strong mortal that he can go toe to toe with god entities and demigods. It also would map well to Kratos from GoW, for a more accurate comparison.
IRyS is… hard. While she has the power level of a god slayer, she stands alone in lore despite often being mapped onto Council. She’s hard to place in that regard, so I just have her her own tier. If we wanted to get silly, then it’s possible she’s jus the bastard daughter of Kanata’s father and Towa’s mother or something like that. For practical purposes, I consider her as on par with the god slayers or demigods, but a distinctly separate entity.
