I think the point I'm really trying to dig at is that there's a lot more interesting writing you can do if your nation has an opposing faction to struggle against. For example I doubt the Metal Cock and Meat Clocks would be very interesting if Victor just happily when along with everything Hilde suggested without any internal conflict.
