>>2951578There isn't much science to confirm this, but there is something in the bodybuilding community called "noob gains". Its a phenomenon where people build a lot of muscle when they start out, which eventually plateaus after a bit. Some people can make noob gains while also losing weight.
Bodybuilding isn't an exact science and some people's bodies react differently to weight loss and lifting. DYOR of course, I'm not an expert, just lurked /fit/ for awhile.
