>>46176122No you absolute fucking retard.
KSon has a good heart but she's fucking retarded and making all the wrong conclusions about the state of the industry.
Here's her mindset -
> All chuuba types should flourish, any person should be able to get into VTubing and do whatever activities they want without getting shit on for it.> Fans are also free to make decisions to support whoever they want, and should not be pressured into liking things that may not be good for the talents themselves. It's a perfectly fine thing to want.
The "problem" she is talking about is the following -
> Audiences are gravitating more towards "clean" and "corporate" VTubers, and not giving a chance to those who are trying to push the limits of the medium (like she did as Coco). This is honestly a legitimate complaint, VTubing used to have all sorts of different styles, gaming, live streaming, pre-recorded content, absolute kayfabe, no kayfabe, and all sorts of in-betweens as the hobby was developing. I'd argue it's still the same in the JP sphere, even if the range of activities has narrowed down (Laplus being unable to transition into pre-recorded content completely because the rest of the company relies on live-streaming interactions with each other being the best example).
She addresses the EN sphere because this "gravitation" that she's talking about is only happening in the EN sphere. She specifically calls out the normalization of calling VShojo girls as "whores", which is fine when doing it /here/ but seems to have spread outside and normalized in normie spaces as well.
But the problem is, she blames the fucking FANS for it, because they apparently shit on people who support non-holo chuubas (by calling them cucks? idk).
At the same time reiterating that fans should are free to choose who they can support, which is a contradiction. She also paints the fringe unicornfags who shit up threads here, but get zero traction outside of /here/ as the "majority fanbase" in her arguments, despite them still - to this day - being only a minority. She also fails to address outsiders who attack decent VTubers and harass them into retirement (despite this happening to someone who should be her friend) which is pure hypocrisy.
What she fails to realize is, this is a DIRECT RESULT of the VTuber side failing their fucking audience. VTubing is supposed to be all about being "fun" and "drama free" which is what KSon also wants. But outside of Hololive, who else provides this experience? Every other fucking corpo, from Kawaii to Prism to Phase to VShojo to NijiEN, every single fucking one of them has had yabs after yabs after yabs so continuously... meanwhile the only complaint that can be musted for Hololive EN is that they don't stream as much. Wow wee. What huuuge drama.
In addition, despite the label of "Talent Freedom" she tries to promote, every single fucking VTuber that adopts this slogan WITHOUT EXCEPTION is someone that just leans into being a whore on stream. She talks about the type of girl that's supposedly "enslaved" (again, an exaggeration borne out of her experience with Mirai Akari that she projects into the rest of the fucking industry for no reason) and asks the audience "is that fun to watch? she wouldn't even be human at that point".
She asks this to an audience that has seen the opposite end of the spectrum. Out of all those indies, small corpos, and THOUSANDS of VTubers that have come out in the past 2 years since the boom started, there's maybe 10 of them that are doing something actually creative with the medium. And 50% of those are just a novel type of "model", like the orc dude or the spider lady.
The other problem she addresses is that "seeing males on stream alone shouldn't be a yab", and that's completely reasonable... IF YOU SET THOSE EXPECTATIONS DURING DEBUT! (see: Bae)
ID3 has completely avoided the "unicorn" problem by simply stating on debut that they wanted to collab with the holostars as well, or they wanted to collab with "both male and female youtubers" (pretty much a corpo script if you ask me). Kaela has some gachis, but they will never be as retarded as the unicorns, because she made her position absolutely fucking clear on debut. If there's a male collab, they'll just sigh and skip it.
Or, if you feel like you want to change content to include male collabs, then announce it to your audience and just do it. Sure you might get shit on for a while, but that eventually goes away, and your new audience will like what you do more (don't complain if your income nosedives though, that's just the audience making their decision).
The supposed "slave company" girl Kronii has done it. She got shit for it (mostly due to her flip flopping and assorted retardation) but she came out of that with most of her audience still intact. Ame - another "slave company" girl - did it despite having the most gosling fanbase on the EN side of VTubing, and continues to retain most of her audience, even some goslings.
