Myth exceptionalism is a meme. Everyone acts like they built up western vtubing from the sweat of their brows and the yoke of their talent, when in reality, Japanese companies had already invented and thoroughly tested a new form of online entertainment, and merely dropped it on to a western audience that were completely alien to the concept.
