>>43059499I don't know Japanese, but I can kind of catch the gist of what my oshi is talking about sometimes just from being exposed to Japanese so much (watching anime and now vtubers). Watching them definitely helps your listening comprehension. I want to study properly but I don't have the discipline to do it on my own. I can at least read katakana and hiragana so I try to read his tweets on my own before translating them.
That said StarsJP are popular enough that the language barrier can be somewhat overcome because there are a lot of fans who provide translations, not just through clips but on twitter and in discord as well. The official channel also subs their content in English.
