The money in itself never mattered to her. She always had a well-paying job that allowed her to get new vtuber models when she felt like it. It was being seen as valuable enough to be given money for free that was important. And not just any people, but anonymous strangers on the internet. People with no reason to sugarcoat what they thought about her, but also people without any identity towards whom you have no accountability.
Money and viewers are both completely interchangeable things. The singular dollar and singular viewer don't matter in themselves, but are only worth anything due to their exchange value.
Way before her whole GFE phase, when she was out in the open about having a relationship even, Gumpai used to conduct anonymous surveys on her viewers to get their opinions.
