Without that information both me and the rep couldn't figure out a reasonable and realistic response from the Owl Republic. And just because of a nuclear fallout doesn't mean that people in universe know what's going on and thus would keep a distance away from the station for a while before exploring it, if the writers did go with the reactor leak ending.
