I don't get people that seethe about awards shows, they're nothing but popularity contests no matter how you slice it. even if fan votes are restricted (or a non-factor) it'll just be a popularity contest between whatever judge panel they set up.
I'm not just talking about this event either. I said the same thing when people were bitching about the game awards the other day, I say the same thing about people that bitch about the oscars or the emmys or what have you. At the end of the day the best movie, game, vtuber of the year is something only you can decide and if you actually care that others disagree you need to do some serious self-introspection.
