Maybe it was twenty or thirty years ago, but with the rise of the Internet people have been forming these same kinds of relationships with streamers and other online content creators, being a part of a dedicated fanbase was not brought to Western culture or even Western VTubing through idols. Idols did bring in a lot of the initial culture and etiquette, but a good amount of those engrained ideas and behaviors are negative ones (corporate abuse, fanaticism, fanbase abandonment, ageism and objectification of the talents) and none of them need to be adhered to or even respected by every single person who decides to download live2D, because at the end of the day VTubing is just a tool. I do agree with her that fleshposting is shit though, but mostly for OPSEC reasons
