>>87922>What was your earliest exposure to the concept of v-tubers?Kizuna Ai.
>Who was the v-tuber that actually got you interested in the scene? Also Kizuna Ai.
>Can you remember the first stream/clip/etc you saw that sent you down the rabbit hole?Kizuna Ai's Resident Evil 7 playthrough. Enjoyed it entirely from beginning to end, it was fun to watch someone not that good at videogames doing her best while getting scared shitless every 5 minutes.
Did you discover them through friends, threads, or random chance of the algorithm?
I think it was a random thread in /v/ back in 2018? A few months after Ai-chan debuted.
How deep are you in the hole now?
Still subbed to Ai-chan's regular and gaming channel, now subbed to a bunch of Holos like Korone, Okayu, Botan, Roboco, Luna and others, also subbed to the VOMS girls, Lulu and Ange from Niji. I used to watch Twitch as my main source of "TV" but vtubers replaced them since last year almost entirely, whenever I'm looking for something to watch I constantly refresh my Youtube feed to see what does the algorithm have for me. I was also thinking "I shouldn't sub to every vtuber I like, because I do like pretty much everyone at Hololive" but then I realized that my Subs list is like 80% vtubers anyway, I don't really sub to channels in the first place.
I'm deep enough in the rabbit hole that I've been retaking my japanese studies, and watching them has allowed me to learn a lot of common words and phrases.
