I'll say the original has this "essence" due to hardware limitations, money and just overall stuff that people see as "OHHH IT WAS TOTALLY INTENTIONAL DUDE", which usually can't be replicated (I said usually because the shitty glaze up of SH2 is what ruins modern horror indie gaming; shitty gameplay, PS2 graphics, etc), but still is a kinda jank and "I need a guide" kinda game, this however is a good modern take for different audiences and it does a pretty good job keeping as it is.
