Because this "natural autcomplete" is quicker and less "compute-intensive" it activates when our brain thinks we are somehow in danger. And having another human being disagree with you could be pretty dangerous before internet existed. Especially if you were talking about politics.
You probably felt it happen at least several times in your life and understood that the quality of the conversation drops drastically, but can't admit it to the person you were arguing with, and they won't admit either.
Troons, nationalists and religious types are like this all the time. They don't even pretend to hold their beliefs rationally so disagreement with them is a very direct attack on their identity and historically represented real danger. Still does in a lot of places.
It's the same with 95% of arguments honestly, it's just that with these people it's almost impossible to have a coherent discussion about these things.
