The one core concept that a real stock market won't just do is adjustments. Those are a core function of the game, and already limit what CAN be done by the game and it's system - you're bound to stats others gather for you, those update at a fixed time etc.
The reason divvies work the way they do is due to expected interest in the game. It's of course more interesting to have them weekly instead of once a year, and the percentages must be astronomical compared to the real stock market for the sole reason that the devs want to throw a bone to the strategy of holding and long-term investments.
Games are about producing FUN, the primary game loop in this game is clicking buttons, secondary would be configuring the autotrader or react to [current_market] portfolio-wise while a tertiary loop matters over weeks and months and can be summed up in either spreadsheet autism or general strategy (divviesfags vs. daytraderfags, oshifags vs. unityfags, which coins and chuubas to monitor closely to extract insider info etc.).
This game in particular also has the mission to watch some more chuubas, as stated in the info. Got people into twitter reps and maybe subbing to more chuubas to see the new frames early (only reason I am subbed to Rushia, Shion and Ame for instance).
So why not like a real stock market?
- hard to work divvies in, some invisible hand would have to make shadow trades to somehow dictate a price, or we'd have to change the core concept of the performance affecting the price in general and transcend to whatever other approach seems to work
- server performance and people playing all over the world would lead to unfair advantages to players living closer to the server, the 10 min cooldown works in mitigating this quite a fair bit
- The market is bound to inflate either way as long as hololive as a whole is still inclining, which is fine for the time being - once the 'rona is over or normies jump to the next cool thing we might have dire times ahead
Just some thoughts on the topic because I'm on the job.
