>>87478911The remake is more like Resident Evil than it is Silent Hill. Ironically, Silent Hill originally was supposed to be a Resident Evil clone so the remake is closer to that goal, but the change from the original also made it far less scary.
In fact I consider the Silent Hill 2 remake to be the least-scary Silent Hill game in the mainline series.
That said, the Silent Hill 2 remake has some beautiful worlds. It's significantly longer than the original due to exponentially-larger environments (to accommodate the new movement and combat mechanics) and the story is changed slightly making some locations take longer. For example, in the original you go to the apartments in the first 30 minutes and meet PH, then Eddie. In the remake, you meet Eddie first and then explore areas that are brand-new to the game, then enter the apartments after about 90 minutes.
The atmosphere for both the original and the remake are dramatically different but are both good in their own ways. The reason I'm asking is because they also have perms for the original Silent Hill games too, not just the Silent Hill 2 remake.
>tl;drThe Silent Hill 2 remake isn't scary but it's a lot more "fun" mechanically. It has the same puzzles and the environment is beautiful, but it feels more like you're playing a Resident Evil 4 mod overhaul.
