That sounds retarded to ask and is a little but in a semi related story the Ming dynasty sent a lot of voyages under Zheng He to gain tribute from other nations and went as far as Southern Africa. There were allegedly plans to go further East over the Pacific and this was all before the European age of exploration. It all ended becasue one asshole flipped his lid and feared that outside influence would destabalize the country so he locked down or burned the largest navy that had ever existed to that point. An alt history Chinese colonial empire is not far fetched.
