She really didn't like her original design, thinking it made her look too dark, dour, cool and stoic and she felt it made her need to play into that role as well. She also felt the rigging was stiff and not properly expressive. Once she got different model for new years she never went back if she could help it and eventually got a redesign that lightened and rounded her out a bit to be cuter. A bit like the IRyS situation.
Flare also really wants to be a cute character, not a cool one, a bit of the opposite of Kaela insisting she's cool instead of cute.
Flare is unsatisfied with things going beyond that too. Her character is a half-elf but often gets mistaken for being a Dark elf, which she doesn't like. She doesn't even like being called an elf instead of a half-elf and often wears features on her model that hide her elf ears.
Perhaps due to that elf ire, she gets seriously frustrated by people associating her with bows as an elf cliche ("Bow Harassment"). She's mentioned it multiple times, even as recently as two weeks ago where she said she tries to avoid even using bows in games because she doesn't want people to associate her with them and avoids art that depicts her with one. Unfortunately one of her figurines has her with a bow and she was depicted with one in the Hololive Alt animation too, though she states she wasn't involved in that and isn't what she wanted. Originally it had Flare with a bow but was changed to two pistols due to Flare hating bow association. It has a playable demo of a few levels, it is pretty cool.
