the various facial features could be controlled by physical sliding and rotation them along joint and tracks, the mouth could be changed by rotation a multi-sided cylinder with various mouths painted on each side and the limb can simply posed with rotating hinges.
You'd be surprised how expressive you can get with just some simple movements.
