>>77204118It's really hard to stay informed about all topics that are discussed on /vt/, so it's easy to spread misinformation. If someone lies and posts that X vtuber did Y terrible thing in a bunch of threads, it's necessary to refute the statement regardless of whether it's bait or just malicious, because otherwise that soon becomes the commonly accepted truth. Nothing can really be done about that.
What can be fixed is people getting riled up about it and following the troll's bait all the way. One very good point to remember is to speak past the troll to any neutral readers; you'll never convince an idiot or a troll to change, but you can still clarify the truth. Unfortunately, that also requires a lot of anonymous people to start using common sense which is also nearly impossible, but there's at least something there that can be done by individuals.
Also, organise (or participate in) community creations. /vt/ sings, holofightz, yubicraft etc are all examples of this community at its best and they aren't some tales from a bygone age. /vt/ back then was pretty much as bad as it is now, but some anons with ideas pulled together something fun regardless. Being gloomy about all the shit on the catalog does nothing, taking initiative and doing something interesting does wonders, especially since 4chan in general is always a load of trash with occasional diamonds in the hidden away corners.
