New /a/nons will never know what hyper-elitist /a/ was like at that time. That you could not post about Naruto without catching a ban, nor DBZ or others like it like you said. You needed to post with proper grammar, images could not use filenames from many outside websites, asking for the source will get you banned, using non-anime images was an enforced rule that could get you banned, asking for recs got you banned, using anything other than MPC-HC would get you shit on, streaming would be seen a bait and get you banned, etc. Even small things like using exclamation points or "..." would get you shat on.
There was nothing quite like it on the internet, and /a/ will never come back to its former glory, to me at least.
